Professional interests/research projects:

1. Mechanisms of development of oxidative/halogenating stress. Their role in the development of human diseases.
2. Regulation of the activity of the most important enzyme of leukocytes - myeloperoxidase in order to identify the mechanisms of directed synthesis of hypohalic acids in the foci of inflammation and reduce their damaging effect in healthy tissues.
3. The role of myeloperoxidase in the modification of blood lipoproteins and the development of atherosclerosis.
4. Modulation of the functions of blood cells when myeloperoxidase binds to their plasma membrane under the conditions of development of oxidative/halogenating stress and inflammation.
5. The study of the characteristics of halogenating stress in hyperglycemia, the search for ways to regulate and correct it in order to develop an approach to improve the effectiveness of the treatment of inflammatory complications in diabetes mellitus.
6. Study of the interaction of cationic peptides of the medicinal leech with blood components as the first step towards the systemic use of antimicrobial peptides for the treatment of infectious diseases.
