Summer School of Biomedical data analysis started at PBMP

In total, 90 people from different cities and countries will take part in the event. During the registration period, more than 800 applications were submitted from such universities as Moscow State University, Skoltech, Sechenov Universury, ITMO, KFU, SFU and others.

The school is designed for senior students of biotechnical specialties, graduate students, recent graduates, specialists, as well as residents and doctors interested in genetics. The training will take place in the traditional face-to-face format at the MIPT Biocorpus. Lectures and practical exercises will be conducted by employees and specialists from ENC, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Moscow State University, IPTP RAS and other educational institutions.

"The Summer School for Biomedical Data Analysis is being held for the first time, and we did not expect such a number of   applications - more than 10 per place. As a result, we had to increase the number of participants from 80 to 90. Of course, the high interest in bioinformatics is not at all accidental: this area is already one of the most popular, and its demand will only grow.

A very rich program awaits our students: lectures, practical classes, consultations are provided, and at the end of the training, participants will implement and defend their project. We will invite the author of the best project as a speaker at the conference “Computational Biology and Artificial Intelligence for Personalized Medicine-2022”, where more than 40 speakers from all over the world will speak: leading scientists, representatives of the IT community, as well as novice researchers within a special section”, — spoke about the project Pavel Volchkov, head of the organizing committee, head of the laboratory of genomic engineering at MIPT.

The educational program of the school is primarily aimed at obtaining skills in biomedical data processing and consists of three parts: introductory, theoretical and practical. At the introductory part, participants will gain the skills necessary for their work: the basics of molecular biology, basic Python programming and command line skills.

In theory, they will choose one of three areas dedicated to different areas of bioinformatics data analysis: virology, NGS data analysis, or laboratory genetics, as well as learn how to analyze biomedical data according to generally recognized standards.

At the end of the summer school, participants will have practical work and feedback on its results from teachers.
